Escape Room - The Enigma Room

Image
With all the hype around the escape room game concept, we thought we would give it a try. Being a very competitive person, even thought I don't show it, I really hate losing. I was concerned that I wouldn't be smart enough for the game and we would fail to escape the room. Luckily, escape rooms are designed for team work, and I have a relatively intelligent husband and friends to back me up. First, finding this place was not as straight forward as there were no signs outside the building. We needed to ring the bell and someone open the door for us. We went up stair to a small waiting room when a host explained the game to us. We had a choice of standard mode (where we can ask for help and the host will also send automatic help when he/she see fits) or the hard mode (where we can ask for help but the host won't send automatic helps). Although we really wanted to tackle the hard mode, but since it was our first escape room, the host recommended trying standard mode firs

Slot Canyon - Bungonia

Image
We were heading to the Southern Highlands for the Easter long weekend and decided to stop at Bungonia for a walk through the Slot Canyon. It was pouring down with rain when we were driving to Bungonia. I was not very keen to do it in the rain as I heard it may be dangerous in wet conditions. The weather forecast predicted the rain will stop mid-morning, so we continued our way there, hoping the rain will ease off. When we got to the information centre the rain stopped. The weather forecast was right after all!! The nice ranger reckoned it wouldn't be too wet today and told us to have a nice LONG walk. 4km.... long walk??? Really?? Recommended 4-5hours?? I wasn't too convinced at the time. We paid our $8 parking fee and headed off to Bungonia Lookdown before we started our Slot Canyon Walk/ Red Track. We did it in the clockwise way as advised by the ranger. It was a very steep descend down to the canyon. It took me a long time to do this as I am terrified of sl

Caves Beach

Image
Caves Beach has a network of sea caves that can be explored during low tide. I have seen a lot of beautiful photos of this place and I wanted to see it for myself. It is only about 1.5 hours drive from Sydney, east of Lake Macquarie. The caves are located on the south part of Hams Beach. There are plenty of parkings, BBQ/picnic facilities, toilets, shower, and kiosk close by. Initially I thought there is just one cave, but there are actually plenty of small caves and areas to explore. There are a few rock ponds and areas between rocks to swim in. There is a short coastal walking track south of Caves Beach to Spoon Rocks Beach, a much quieter and private beach, and Spoon Rocks Split. This is a very unique beach and is definitely worth visiting. I am planning to go back to the caves during sunset or sunrise. The views from the caves would be even more stunning. The coastal track continues to Pinny Beach in Wallarah National Park, which I am
